What was it like?

Udon is a type of wheat noodle that originated from Japan. It is recognised by its characteristic thickness. It can be served in sauce as a hot or cold dish depending on the season. There are different ways that udon may be prepared and each is named accordingly. Some of these dishes include:

• Kake udon: udon in hot broth garnished with green onions • Zaru udon: chilled udon served on a bamboo mat and accompanied by a dipping sauce • Kamaage udon: udon in hot water accompanied with seasonings and sauces • Curry udon: udon served in a bowl of Japanese-style curry. • Chikara udon: udon and rice cakes served in a hot broth

To eat udon like a pro, use chopsticks and make a slurping sound, which isn’t considered rude in Korea or Japan.
